The courage to take up space: How to Speak with Authority in High-Stakes
You don’t need to be the loudest voice to be the most powerful presence. Taking up space starts with believing you deserve to be there—before anyone else confirms it.
Authority isn’t about dominating.
It’s about anchoring in your presence, expertise, and clarity and going into the room knowing what you bring.
It’s the calm certainty that says, “I know what I bring. I am absolutely part of this,” and people feel that.
You can do a quick five minute grounding before going into any meeting that requires that kind of presence. It can be a custom guided visualization, or a quick meditation and breathwork, but it has to be something that grounds you into believing this.
Here’s the mindset shift-
You’re not asking for permission. You’re offering perspective, expertise, well thought out research, and whatever else you bring.
Every time you hold your posture, speak with clarity, and stop shrinking to fit the room, you shift the room in your favor.
Power isn’t about your volume, it’s about ownership aka internal authority.
